| Workshops
on basic and advanced use of computers
Since the year 2000, Sisimiut Museum has been working with passing on knowledge about basic work with computers and the Internet. This work has focused on creating a deeper understanding of the potentials of the information flow on the World Wide Web. We belief that passing on knowledge about the Internet generates future job-opportunities.

In the spring of 2001, Sisimiut Museum arranged its first workshop, with help from a local company, MDC Data - Sisimiut. Among the participants was Kristian Andersen, who afterwards constructed and designed the Qasigiannguit Museum web pages- www.museum.gl/qasigiannguit . Kristian has also been the moving spirit in scanning the first 1.200 images for the Greenland National Image Database. In 2002, two new persons started working on the scanning project. Rosa Olsen and Johannes Jeremiassen, a.k.a. Aka. In addition to that, Sisimiut Museum has arranged an Internet introductory course (3.-4.May, 2002). The aim of the course was to introduce and practice basic tools, necessary for constructing and use of html documents. Else Marie Platou, Ane Katrine Kleist and one of museums own staff-members, Aviaja Greve Rasmussen, participated in the introductory course held by Jakub Medonos (Culture Greenland). Sisimiut Museum is now putting a great effort in ensuring a job-opportunity for Else Marie Platou and Ane Katrine Kleist, so that both can be able to start working on their own projects, in the nearest future.
